Poems have had some currency in A_Z-Spanland for some time (e.g., a limerick here, a tax return there) but A_Span has more than once scowlingly announced to Z_Span her dislike, her hatred even, of poetry. Thus, A_Span walks it back: poems can be nice, like friends, but poetry is so intimidating and imposing, or so it has seemed, in A_Span's experience. So there will be little talk of poetry here.

But on a journey from here to there, poems can be quite useful for reconnaissance. They go on up ahead sometimes, feel things out, and bring back reports. Later on, you might realize they have told you something about where you have been, all along.
